Description

In this painting, a play of colors and forms unfolds. The composition is centered, anchored by an orange vase adorned with song verses. The image itself possesses a sense of two-dimensionality.

Within the vase, a bouquet of rescaled flowers springs forth. Their simplified forms carry an air of abstraction, inviting viewers to appreciate the essence rather than the minutiae. Dominating the arrangement are two pink lupin flowers, each possessing its distinct hue. One, a delicate light pink, exudes a tender elegance, while the other, a richer magenta, radiates a deeper intensity.

At the bouquet’s base, a passion flower in dark pink sprawls with an enchanting grandeur. Lupin’s green leaves frame this centerpiece, a verdant embrace that highlights the focal point’s splendor. Three anemone flowers, imbued with a luminous quality that brightens the lower part of the composition.

The background forms a serene backdrop for this floral spectacle. Various shades of blue, ranging from the soft caress of light turquoise to the profound depths of navy blue, coalesce to create an ambiance of tranquillity. Upon this canvas, delicate lunaria pods are etched with finesse. A thin white line captures their fragile forms.

Hovering behind the vase, an illusion of a striped tablecloth emerges. The stripes, alternating between pale blue and warm brown, provide a sense of grounded familiarity that harmonizes with the ethereal blossoms above. It’s as if the composition exists in a dreamlike reality, where the boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary blur into a seamless visual symphony.

This painting encapsulates a harmonious fusion of colors, forms, and emotions. It invites viewers to peer beyond the surface and immerse themselves in the interplay of nature’s beauty and artistic interpretation, a sensory journey that transcends the canvas itself.

Meet the artist

I studied design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow though I really wanted to either study painting, or goat and sheep breeding. I obeyed the advice given and followed what was deemed to be the wiser and more conventional path, though this was short-lived as I quickly returned to nature and painting.

My paintings draw from the world of plants and animals. I am inspired by these worlds, I like to transform them, simplify them, change their colors and add meaning to them. I enjoy the huge bouquets bursting from the vases. I am fascinated by the hare’s crazy eyes that are following me in the studio.

I use various media in Canary Yellow Mallow Vases. Often the base is acrylic paints. Based on this, I start using contrasts. Thick and thin lines as well as spots and smooth color transitions argue for their place. My works are full of colors, shapes, lines, spots, thick lines and patterns.

Based on the description, they could be accused of chaos and disharmony, but this is not the case. The compositions are mostly static, hieratic, central, even if they use asymmetry, they maintain balance. Every rebellion has its own framework here – a framework within which it is fulfilled.
